Axfood’s partnerships with carefully chosen organisations are to be based on long-term relationships and maintain a focus on the areas of health, children, food and the environment.
Axfood main partner of Save the Children
Axfood became one of the organisation’s main partners from spring 2010. Axfood support the charity’s crucial work in protecting the right of children to enjoy a safe education in Ivory Coast.
The partnership involves activities at a large number of Axfood's stores. Recycling machines with charity buttons give customers the option to donate their bottle and can deposits to Save the Children.
As one of the leading independent child advocacy organisations, Save the Children works to ensure and protect children's rights to food, housing, healthcare, education and an existence free from violence, assault and exploitation. Read more www.savethechildren.com

Axfood also support the project “I want to join in” that tackles the issue of discrimination and assault in sport for children in Sweden. Staff from Save the Children have embarked on a nationwide tour of Swedish sports clubs to pass on tools for uncovering and combating discrimination. The work is split into three stages, where the current situation at the club is analysed and a number of different scenarios are debated, before goals are set up and an action plan put together.
The foundation My Big Day
Every Christmas, Axfood supports Min Stora Dag (My Big Day), a foundation that helps to make the dreams of seriously ill children come true. Hundreds of Big Days are organised every year, as well as group activities such as pop concert trips, hospital cafés and youth camps, so that over a thousand children a year get a well-deserved break from their stay in hospital.
