Ethics

As one of Sweden’s largest retail food groups, Axfood maintains contact with a broad network of suppliers and cooperation partners. Some we already have business relations with, while others are seeking to establish such business relations. A fundamental condition for all relations with suppliers is that the tendering process is conducted in a correct manner. In the Axfood Group we always conduct tendering processes with several comparable candidates in an effort to find a supplier that best meets our requirements.

Environment and social responsibility

When considering new suppliers and assessing existing suppliers, their work on the environment and employees’ conditions is an important consideration. Axfood has a Code of Conduct based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, plus the recommendations of the International Labour Organization (ILO), which is the UN’s agency for employment and working life issues, and the UN’s international initiative Global Compact, whose aim is to support work to combat corruption and promote human rights, workers’ rights and environmental issues.
Social audits are being conducted with an increased focus on quality as part of our work to become the best in the industry in terms of environmental and social responsibility. These visits are based on the internationally recognised standard for social audits, SA8000.
