What does your job involve?
We have scheduled job rotation, which means that I have three main tasks that I switch between. Sometimes I work in the delivery bay, receiving goods, checking them against the delivery note and marking up pallets. On other days I may be on the high-lift order picker taking the goods from the delivery bay out to the warehouse. When I’m on this forklift truck I also make sure that there are always goods at floor level for picking. The third task I have is to pick and pack goods which the drivers can then distribute to the stores.
What is your view of service/customer focus?
It’s important that I do my bit, making sure that the right goods are picked and packed so that they reach the store in good shape. We’re constantly striving to improve the quality of our work. Getting the goods out to the stores is a team effort from Assortment & Purchasing via us picking at the warehouse to the drivers that do the deliveries. It’s vital that everyone takes responsibility for their link in the chain.
How long have you worked here at Dagab?
I had a summer job in the Meat department for six years and then I started working full time in Cheese & Dairy. I’ve now been here for 14 years. When I started, I was given the opportunity to get my licence for the low-lift truck, and a few years later I moved onto the high-lift.
What is it like working for Dagab?
It doesn’t feel like I work for a large company. It’s more like a small business where I get to be involved and have a say in how we tackle the work, for example ahead of the major holidays. There is plenty of freedom and I dare to say what I think. The team spirit among my colleagues is fantastic. We have great fun!
