Leif, store administrator

What is your working day like?
I start by checking the day’s checkout schedule and ensuring that we have staff for the whole day. If anyone is off sick, I arrange a replacement. I have personnel responsibility for the checkout line, which means that I hold performance reviews and employ personnel myself. Then there is the paperwork. I check the store’s invoices and delivery notes and am responsible for dealing with checkout receipts.

How many people do you manage?
Around 30. Organisationally, I have responsibility for three checkout supervisors, who in turn manage 25-30 checkout staff.

What are the best things about your job?
There is so much going on. No two days are ever the same and there is so much to deal with. And of course we enjoy our work. We have a laugh and look after each other – it’s great.

How long have you worked at Willys?
I’ve been working in food stores since 1975 and have been with Axfood for six years.

Have you had any other jobs with us?
I used to be a checkout manager and now I’m a store administrator.

What is it like working at Willys?
There are better development opportunities here than at my other employers. There is a better atmosphere.

Do you have the chance to get involved and have your say?
Absolutely. It feels like I have a free hand.

What is it like being on the management team?
I get a lot of information that I don’t think I’d have otherwise. I can also pass on what I know. The others do listen. We are all encouraged to say what we think.
