What did you learn on the trainee programme?
I gained a broad picture and knowledge of how everything works, from strategy to purchasing, logistics and the stores. I also learned about sales tactics and how to increase profits.
If you had to choose one thing that was particularly useful, what would it be?
It would probably be the work experience at Assortment & Purchasing. There was so much that I didn’t know. How the regulations work and how to negotiate with suppliers. I also got to meet the other party, i.e. suppliers.
What did you do before becoming a trainee with us?
I worked in a food store. Firstly full-time after upper secondary school and then part-time when I did my Master’s in economics. I’ve worked on the checkouts and in the summer I had responsibility for the bread department. It was great fun!
What does your job involve now?
I’m business controller at Axfood AB and I work on operational reporting, follow-up, analyses and forecasts. This means that I make reports on consolidated sales and costs, which are distributed both externally and internally. I am also involved in various development projects.
Has the job turned out as well as you hoped?
It’s been better than I ever dared to hope. I have a good manager and knowledgeable colleagues. I’m learning a lot. Axfood has a flat organisational structure and I work independently, with plenty of responsibility.
