What is the best thing about your job?
Getting to meet all the customers! I often get the same customers coming to my checkout. You make contact and it feels great.

What is your working day like?
I come in at around ten. Then I check to see who I’m taking over from and start work on the checkout. If it’s quiet I see whether anything needs restocking. Carrier bags, tobacco products and so on.

What is your view of service/customer focus?
It’s vital to be friendly and positive. All of us on the checkouts are a barometer of how well the store is run. If the staff are friendly, the customers will come back.

What is it like working at Willys?
We have distinct objectives and clear rules. I know exactly what I need to do every day and that suits me down to the ground.

How does working here compare with your previous jobs?
I’ve been working here for two and a half years. I actually trained as a recreation leader and only took this job as a summer job. But I stayed on because the atmosphere in the team is so good. I love coming into work!
